Grease and football

This past weekend we celebrated Carson's birthday.  We made a quick trip back to Indiana which amounted to being there for less than 24 hours and it's a 9 hour trip there and back.

Anyhoo - every time we travel my eating habits are terrible.  

Before we left I thought we'd get some breakfast, which is something I normally don't do (except drink coffee), but we were traveling and I needed me some good road food.  

We stopped at Burger King and loaded up on greasy breakfast sandwiches, hash browns and coffee (milk for the kids).  I failed to remember (until after the fact of scarfing down the oil-laden food) that I was meeting a friend and her kids for lunch and a play date at Burger King that afternoon.  Ugh.  

So yet again for lunch I got to indulge myself on more fattening food.  It didn't even taste good at that point.  I should have been a good girl and had a salad, but I didn't.  

That night we had family over at my parent's house for Carson's party and we ordered pizza.  I think I can feel the grease coming out of my pores.  Nasty!

Last night I was tucking the boys in bed and was having a conversation with Taylor.  I asked him if he knew which two teams were playing in the super bowl next weekend.  He didn't know the answer so I decided to give him clues along with some charades.  For the Cardinals I flapped my wings like a bird.  He guessed I was a seagull (I know he was joking, but seriously that would be a funny pro football team name).  Then for the Steelers I pounded my abs and flexed my muscles trying to show him abs of steel.  You know what he guessed?  Abs of jelly.  Grease may have been the better guess, but jelly?!?!  Come on!  He's so grounded. 

The morning bounce surprise

Yesterday I told the kids I had a surprise for them and they would have to get up earlier than normal.  I wouldn't give any other clues except they had to wear socks and their Brown's jerseys (along with the rest of their clothes, of course).

If anyone listens to the local Cleveland radio station Q104 they might know what I am talking about.  They had their first annual Inflatable Christmas at Bounce City which is a place to take your kids and they can jump, slide, and play on various inflatable apparatus. 

We arrived at 8:30 am.  The station was broadcasting live from Bounce City, there was food, AND they had guest appearances by a few Cleveland Brown's football players.  I had my fingers crossed for Brady Quinn, but he didn't show up.  Darn-it!   (Did you know we live less than 6 miles away from him?)  Darnell Dinkins was there along with Josh Cribbs.  

The boys couldn't believe they got to meet real NFL football players.  We even got a picture with Josh Cribbs and he autographed the boys jerseys.  It was a fun and memorable day.  All for a $5 donation.  What a deal!  

It's Monday

Carson is a fan of football and the Bears were his team of choice, that was until they lost. So now his favorite team is the Patriots, go figure. During the games that were on yesterday he walked in the room and said, "Hey, is the thunderstorm team winning?" I was a bit confused at what he was talking about, but then it clicked. The San Diego Chargers have a lightening bolt on their helmets and Carson came up with the practical name of the Thunderstorm team. Makes sense from the eyes of a 4 year old.

Speaking of 4, Carson will be celebrating his 5th birthday on Friday. We're having a kid party on Thursday and then the family party on Saturday. So there is much to do to prepare for the festivities. First on the list is trying to clean the red stain out of the carpet. We've already gone through several methods of which none have succeeded. I went and priced new carpet this morning and must say it will be a last resort. We are having a carpet cleaning company come out on Wednesday to see what they can do. Note to self, never again buy red Gatorade or any red beverage for that matter. The dye in it is resilient once it gets into fabric or carpet!

That is my big word for the day, resilient. I did an internet search on Thesaurus.com and noticed the sponsored link advertisement right above the definition was for new carpet. Is that not ironic? I am surprised I didn't see a Gatorade advertisement listed as well.
