My 100th Post!

A Day in the Life of the Ordinary


I did it! I made it to my 100th post! It only took exactly 2 years, but either way here I am. My first post was on February 3, 2006. I took a break for 9 months and no, not because I was pregnant or anything, I just needed to refocus and gain a more positive approach. So I've been back at it for 4 months now. I am enjoying this form of journaling and hope to be able to maintain it.

So, without further ado I give you................


100 Things about me

1. My middle name is Christeen.

2. I was almost given the name Janelle.

3. I am a natural brunette although I tried to pull off the blonde look for many years.

4. The hero in my life is Jesus.

5. I am 5 ft. 8 in. tall.

6. I am five pounds heavier than I was in high school which is okay with me.

7. My birthday is December 22.

8. I’ve been married going on 10 years in April.

9. I have a pit bull boxer mix dog named Sasha who is about 10 years old.

10. My favorite color is purple.

11. My favorite color in clothing is black.

12. My favorite scent is vanilla.

13. My favorite season is fall.

14. I will not go out in public unless I have some type of make up on.

15. The only piercing I have are my ears in which I have 5, but only wear 2.

16. I do not have any tattoos and I am thankful for that.

17. My favorite drink during the day is coffee with lots of cream and sugar.

18. My favorite drink at night is red wine, especially Robert Mondavi.

19. I love chocolate, especially dark and any mixed with peanut butter.

20. My favorite food is Italian.

21. I do not like cats, although I have owned a few in the past.

22. I rarely ever have cash on me.

23. I am not a fan of swimming or water sports.

24. I have always lived in the same city.

25. I don’t particularly enjoy cooking, but I do like to bake.

26. I sleep with one pillow.

27. I have very bad vision, try - 4.25, I’m pretty much blind if I don’t have my contacts in or glasses on.

28. My favorite subject in high school was Biology.

29. My least favorite subject in school was any type of math.

30. I began gymnastics around the age of 6 and continued through high school.

31. I took all types of dance classes starting when I was 4.

32. In middle school the sports I participated in were cross country, track and basketball. The basketball thing was a joke – I stunk!

33. In high school I did cross county, track and gymnastics my freshman year and then continued only with gymnastics.

34. I lettered in gymnastics my sophomore, junior, and senior year.

35. I coached middle school aged gymnastics for 3 years before I had my third child.

36. My first real job was a bank teller.

37. I continued in the bank industry for the next 6 years ending as a regional assistant manager before I decided to stay home with my boys.

38. I couldn’t imagine having to go back to work.

39. I’m a reality TV junkie.

40. I used to have a hamster and girble. The hamster escaped and we never found him, and the girble (Fritz) died by choking on a piece of food. So sad.

41. Growing up, our family had parakeets as pets. One of them was named Harvey, but he flew out the door one day, never to be seen again.

42. We sold one of our parakeets at a garage sale because he was mean.

43. My childhood dog’s name was Simon and he could say the word Rolm which was the name of the company my Dad worked at.

44. I hate black spiders – a lot.

45. I love roller coasters.

46. I’ve been to both Disney World and Disney Land.

47. In high school I drove a ’75 black Chevy Malibu. It was sweet and I loved how the bucket seats could swivel.

48. I am the baby of the family, I have two older brothers.

49. I got married to my high school sweetheart at the age of 20.

50. I am very detail oriented and organized.

51. I like to clean and have a hard time sitting still in my house.

52. I have diagnosed myself with having OCD.

53. I can make a crazy noise with my stomach that I have never heard anyone else be able to do, but I can only do it when my stomach is empty. I should probably see a doctor about it. I first noticed it my sophomore year during gym class and I thought I was going to die. Seriously.

54. I have a bad habit of picking my nails if they do not have nail polish on them.

55. I am always willing to do what I can to help others in need.

56. I have been going to the same church since I was a little girl, maybe not regularly, but I still consider it my church.

57. I used to want to be a librarian when I was little.

58. My favorite cartoon is the Smurfs.

59. I hate the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard.

60. I avoid scary movies or TV shows. They tend to linger in my mind.

61. I am not a fan of feet – whatsoever! Not mine, not other people, no one touching mine, just.no.feet.period. They are nasty.

62. I was a roller skating diva in elementary school. I would constantly win shoot-the-duck and limbo contests. And the prize was two quarters.

63. I used to dumpster dive when I was younger and came out with some good stuff. Living behind Walgreens really had its perks!

64. I have always wanted to fly in a hot air balloon.

65. I have always wanted to go for a helicopter ride.

66. I used to want to go sky diving, but now that I have a family, I am rethinking that ambition. But, parasailing would be fun.

67. I find it therapeutic to work a puzzle whether it is 50 pieces or 1000 pieces.

68. In high school I had a job as a waitress.

69. I went to college for one year and couldn’t decide what interested me, so I focused my attention on being a mom and wife which seems to be working for me.

70. I would love to take a vacation and visit Hawaii some day.

71. One of my favorite perfume scents is Liz Claiborne.

72. I like the smell of men’s Old Spice, but my favorite cologne on my man is Escape.

73. My favorite movie of all time is Back to the Future.

74. I love garage sales, going to them and having them.

75. I love to exercise, it completely changes my mood and I feel so good afterwards.

76. I miss going to my grandparents house, the sound of their clock ticking, the distinct smell of their house, the pool table and hula hoops in the basement, the soft down pillows, the worn out wooden blocks, the peanut butter toast, the crystal sugar bowl on the table, Charlie the bird, reading books in the corner, riding big wheels around the block, the windmill in the backyard, the drawer of scrap paper, the snack cabinet, their warm smiles and unhurried lifestyle. I miss them.

77. I keep a box of Kleenex in each bedroom and bathroom and in the kitchen. I need to go find one right now.

78. I love laughter, silliness and sarcasm.

79. I hate camping, although as a kid I loved it.

80. I am in awe when I step outside and absorb the beauty of this world.

81. I am fairly strong-willed, but at times I can be easily persuaded.

82. I love staying up late and sleeping in.

83. I am not a morning person. Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee.

84. I hate clutter, junk mail and wallpaper.

85. I recycle everything I possibly can.

86. Teenage drivers scare me as do the elderly.

87. When I was in elementary school I witnessed my friend get three fingers chopped off while sitting next to her in a wheel barrow that tipped over in the garage. My friend’s dad had to collect the fingertips, putting them on ice and drive them to the ER.

88. I could never work in the medical field. It would cause me to be nauseous and faint. Medical field workers are saints – I don’t know how they do it, but thank the Lord they do.

89. I’ve never broken a bone in my body. (Knocking on wood right now!)

90. In my twenties we lived next door to my parents for 3 ½ years. The kids (and I) were so lucky to have had that opportunity.

91. I love seeing live music, but I haven’t been to a concert in over a year.

92. I love frogs. I don’t collect them, but I do have a few here and there, primarily as outdoor lawn décor. Even real frogs are cool. I take after my Aunt Judy.

93. One of my earliest memories as a kid had to be when I was 2 or 3. I was riding in a seat on the back of my dad’s bike and we crashed due to loose gravel on the road. I remember going to the doctor, throwing up, and having a concussion. That head injury explains a lot. Ha!

94. As a young girl I had a crush on Chad Allen, George Michael, and Barry Manilow. What was I thinking?

95. As a kid I wanted to be like Punky Brewster and Blossom.

96. I am constantly rearranging furniture and I tend to do that (or think about doing it) when I go to other people’s houses.

97. The preschool that Taylor went to and the preschool that Carson is currently going to is the same one that I attended when I was 4 years old.

98. I’ve been to a taping of the Jerry Springer show back in the 90’s before it got really bad, and I have been to tapings of the Oprah show 4 times.

99. At weddings and Christmas parties I am on the dance floor getting my groove on. I love to dance! Have you ever seen a white girl crump? Holla!

100. I try to avoid conflict with others – it makes me nervous. I am a peacemaker, which I get from my mom.

  2. Ohh,congratulations on your 100 post. I stopped reading as soon as I got to the Robert Mondavi comment! We're twins! Lol, love love love my Robert. Actually I think I'll go and get some, then come backand read the rest of the post....

  3. Correction to #93. You were riding on the back of your mother's bike when the front hand brake grabbed and broke sending the bike into the stones. I could tell you exactly where it happened too.
