Now what?

Well, here we are in our new residence in the state of Ohio. A week ago today we moved in and have been busting our butts all week, but we are all unpacked. All that's left is putting pictures up on the walls. Hopefully that will make it feel more like home. Because even though it's where we live, it's just a house. A beautiful one at that, but just a house that's waiting for us to fill it with memories. We've filled it with the loads of stuff we have, but it still feels empty to me. I am sure it doesn't help that this the first moment I have had alone, all to myself. Jason is at work, the 2 younger boys are napping (as is the dog), and Taylor is on his way back home to stay and visit with the grandparents. This is when the sadness hits. The loneliness is felt in my heart. I miss the connections I had back at home with my family and friends. I miss the comfort and security of my home. I try to stay strong and be positive, but deep down I miss home. I know I need to give it time and I will adjust. Right now it's just kinda hard for me. I could use all the encouraging comments you might have.

  1. Oh, I hope you can settle in nicely and it feels more like home. You can still stay in touch in so many ways with friends- I know that has to help. Hang in there!

  2. I have read your post on and off, but never left a comment. Today is the day to leave my first comment. It is so hard to move to a new place, a place where you know noone and you sit all alone in your house with nothing to do, nowhere to go and noone to talk to. I remember those days so clearly. I think I was really depressed when we moved, but four years later, I can say it is easier. I have friends, the kids have friends and I am now more familiar with things, but I still miss Fort Wayne, my home their and all my friends. It will get easier, but it is going to take alot of time especially since you are a say at home mom. If you ever need to talk, just send me a note. Words of encouragement will always help those who are lonely.

    Try to hang in there!!!

  3. Welcome to Ohio from a fellow Ohioan! I hope you get settled in quickly and that the transition for the kids goes smoothly.

I love reading your blog, and look forward to hearing more about your adventures.

  4. It does get better!
First of all, thank God for social networking!!!

This is a great time to re-invent yourself/family. If you are un-organized become organized. If you are uptight, become laid back.

Keep yourself busy and before long you will feel like life is normal!!

  5. I imagine you do feel lonely, I feel lonely in my new house and it's 3 miles away from my old house. You have so much to get used to, new grocery stores, new roads, new house, EVERYTHING. Be kind to yourself and remember...just because you are sad, that doesn't mean you are unhappy. It's okay to be sad. I miss you.

  6. I'm so you feel overwhelmed but I know your home is perfect for you and your family. Relax, grab a glass of wine and hang in there.

One great thing, we are all here for you. You are missed in Indiana, although you are a buckeye now, you are still a Hoosier at heart.

*I'm up for fun new house photos!

  7. oh sweetie, i can only imagine your loneliness. We have had a few opportunities to move away due to the hubby's job, but have always said no, because I never felt strong enough to move away from our family. You are a strong and wonderful woman, I wish you all the best over there in Ohio. Send us pictures!!!!

  8. It's hard moving, and you know what? I think it's hardest on the Moms. We're the ones that have to cope with it all.

It DOES get easier though. Just take your time, be kind to yourself and don't expect it to happen over night. In a year you'll be settled, in two years it'll be home. And you know what? The time will fly!
