Proper Pronunciation

Last week I did a post asking you a few questions about how you do certain things and I found your answers pretty interesting compared to my responses.

Today I would love your input again, but with a different spin.  I have compiled a list of 10 words that I have heard different pronunciations for.  I am asking you to tell me which pronunciation you use.  And when you're done you can add your own word(s) that I didn't include in the comment section.

This kind of reminds me of the Mad Gab game I had you play awhile back.  So start talking to yourself again because you'll need to sound these out.  Below is the link that will take you to the survey.  Have fun.  I can't wait to see your responses.

  1. I just took the survey...I guess it was anonymous. Oh goodness, I could think of so many pronunciation differences, but I don't have the time to come up with a bunch. Here's a biggie between me and I friend of mine. I saw grandpa like this: GRAN puh, she says it like this: gran PAW.

  3. That was fun!

I like to poke fun at the men in my life for their pronunciations.

My husband says "rest-raunt" and I say "rest-er-aunt" when we go out to eat.

My dad is originally from Baltimore and he pronounces the nation's capital as "Warsh-ington."

Thanks for the great fun today, Lynette!

  4. My mom has a few things that she says weirdly and we tend to make fun of her for them - uman beans for human beings is one that I can think of. But I don't think that has anything to do with region or dialect. I think it's just my mom being mom!

Thanks for visiting my blog today too! Have a great day!

  5. Your survey was fun, but left out an option for me. We say jammas for pajamas. It is interesting the different way people pronounce words, and also the different words people use for the same thing, such as pop, soda, coke.

  6. Hahaha! Fun survey! Let us know the results, will ya? :) I live in Singapore, so I'm pretty sure my pronunciation's way off from you all :) It's all a toe-mah-toe, toe-may-toh kinda thing! :)
