Works for me Wednesday - Hiccup Remedy

It's been awhile since I have had a case of the hiccups.  In the past I would normally follow this remedy which was pretty fool proof.

I have also tried holding my breath, taking deep breaths, eating a spoon full of sugar (which never got rid of the hiccups but did give me a bit of a sugar high), and having someone try and scare them out of me.

But the newest method that a friend told me about is to drink water through a straw while plugging your ears.  It seriously works!

I was going to post a video demonstration, but when I started recording, my hiccups went away.  So there is yet another way to clear up your hiccups - videotape yourself!

That works for me.

  1. I do something similar, but by drinking from the wrong side of the glass (from the rim that is away from you... you have to do it by bending over). It's very complicated though and hard to plug your ears at the same time. I'll have to try this method in the future.

    Thanks for a great tip!

  2. I am DEFINITELY going to try this the very next time the hiccups come knocking. Has anyone ever figured out what actually CAUSES them?

  3. We don't have straws in my house, so I'm still drinking water upside down (same concept as the from-the-far-side-of-the-glass remedy). But if you have straws, this would be way easier!

  4. Great idea....I'll have to pass this along

we use a spoonful of peanut butter and it works everytime, but know that many people have nut allergies.

  5. Being diabetic, this would work much better than the spoonful of sugar that I use now. I am so going to try it the next time I have the hiccups! Thanks! My endocronologist thanks you!
